Data:
The data used to produce these maps is stored in UNHCR’s standardized GIS database.
CREATION TIME:
4 to 6 hours.
FOCAL POINT:

CONTENT/PURPOSE:
The maps will display one or a combination of the following data sets:
  • UNHCR offices
  • Presence of Population of Concern
  • Country names recognized by the UN
  • International and Administrative boundaries recognized by the UN
  • Road network
  • States that are party to refugee or statelessness conventions
SIZE:
A3 or A4
FREQUENCY:
The maps are updated twice a year or on demand.
CLEARANCE:
To be reviewed by Mapping Unit and cleared by requester.

Description:
UNHCR Operation/Situation maps are medium sized maps at country or regional scale highlighting the context of a UNHCR operation.
Data:
Their creation requires the gathering and verification of information and data in close consultation with the regional bureau.
CREATION TIME:
6 to 24 hours.
FOCAL POINT:

CONTENT/PURPOSE:
The maps provide HQ and field offices with a timely visual of the latest context of an ongoing UNHCR operation. The maps will display one or a combination of the following data sets:
  • Location(s) of the event(s)
  • Cause/nature of event
  • UNHCR offices
  • Humanitarian impact such as number of refugees, IDPs etc.
  • Country names recognized by the UN
  • International and Administrative boundaries recognized by the UN
  • Road network
SIZE:
A3, A4 or Inset Map (250px)
FREQUENCY:
Maps are produced on demand or as new emergencies and priorities arise.
CLEARANCE:
To be reviewed by Mapping Unit and cleared by requester.

Description:
Custom Maps encompass products such as Statistical maps, Infographics or any other request.
  • The statistical maps are either at regional or global scale, they provide visual display of UNHCR population data such as number of Refugees, IDPs, Returnees or Asylum Seekers.
  • An Infographic is a full page map focusing on one thematic and combining geo-referenced information, graphics and textual summaries. The infographic provides timely visual insight to a situation, developed from data provided by UN agencies, clusters and other humanitarian actors.

Their creation requires the gathering and verification of information and large amounts of data in close consultation with the requester.
CREATION TIME:
A minimum of 24 hours and up to two weeks depending on the complexity of the product.
