Refugee children from Trikala site played sports with university students last week in a beautiful initiative that brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Children and students danced, played basketball, talked and made jokes. A day of coexistence that brought new friendships.
Under the umbrella of community based interventions, supported by the European Commission – Humanitarian Aid, University of Thessaly offered to have some 70 children from Trikala site to participate in sport activities twice a month in November and December.
The University provided the sport venue and UNHCR took care of the transportation and the sports material needed, including basketballs, volleyballs, volley nets, footballs, etc.
