Political deadlock in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to hamper much-needed reforms. Widespread protests in 2014 signaled broad dissatisfaction with economic and political conditions in the country. Journalists are exposed to intimidation and threats from political authorities. A fresh ruling from the European Court of Human Rights underscored the government’s ongoing failure to end restrictions on Jews, Roma, and other minorities running for political office.
