Several years ago, Immaculate and her husband fled conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Today, they live with their two-year-old daughter in Uganda’s Nakivale refugee settlement, where malaria is rife.

 

She is among just 45 per cent of the camp’s 74,000 residents who sleep under a mosquito net, donated by UNHCR.

“Malaria was a big problem for the family,” says Immaculate. “Since we have received the nets, it is not like before. Before, we were going to the hospital every month, but now not any more.”
