Job vacancies with UNHCR Kenya operations.

 

Kenya Operation employs some 500 national and international staff who provide live-saving aid and protection every day for over 500,000 refugees and asylum seekers in Nairobi, Dadaab, Kakuma and Alinjugur.

National Professional Officers
National Professional Officers (NPOs) are employed to perform functions which require national knowledge and experience. NPOs must be Kenyans and have substantial knowledge of local conditions. They do not have a requirement to rotate. Vacancies in the NPOs category are simultaneously advertised internally and externally. External advertisements are issued in the local press.

General Service Staff

General Service Staff are recruited locally, in the duty station where the vacancy arises. Candidates must be Kenyan nationals. They should also meet all established criteria. Staff in this category work in support roles and their functions vary from general administrative and secretarial assistance to more specialized positions, such as information technology assistant or protection assistant.

Internships
The different departments of UNHCR in Nairobi office offer internships to young people throughout the year. Offices outside Nairobi do not take on interns. The duration of internships normally lasts between two and six months. Internships are offered depending on the availability of meaningful assignments and the needs and capacity of units/offices to receive and supervise interns.
