Welthungerhilfe (GAA)
About Welthungerhilfe/German Agro Action was founded in 1962 as a national
chapter of the then FAO’s Freedom from Hunger Campaign and quickly
developed into a globally active private organization which is
currently the largest non-politically affiliated and non-religious NGO of German
origin and which has the German President as its patron.
Welthungerhilfe currently operates in 46 countries worldwide including East Africa.

Welthungerhilfe has been supporting Kenya’s development since the
1970s, while also assisting relief measures whenever necessary to ensure the
survival of disaster affected populations. Welthungerhilfe actively
aims to make its vision come true, “A world without hunger and poverty”.
We are therefore working together with other local and international partners
all over the world to make this vision a reality.

The Regional Office in Nairobi has been operational since
Welthungerhilfe´s registration as an NGO operating in Kenya in 1993.

During the past 5 years, it has invested over EUR 24 million (KSH 2.3
billion) in supporting disaster relief and risk reduction (DRR, often
drought preparedness), humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development
assistance in the country.
