Mohammad: from Syria to Lebanon

I left Syria with my family two years ago, as the fighting escalated and it was too dangerous to stay. I fled with my wife, our daughter and four sons.

We live in Baddawi camp, in Lebanon now. My wife has relatives here, and our children can go to school again. The schools had gradually been closing in Syria, and my children were unable to continue their studies. I worry about my children’s future and education.

My son Talal is now 18 years old, and will hopefully be going to University soon, while Jalal, who is 16 years old is enrolled in vocational training to become an electrician. Bilal, who is 12 years old, is studying at an UNRWA school (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees).

I am working as a painter in order to support my family. I worry that if I return to Syria now, my children will not be able to continue with their studies.

I hope that my family and I can stay in Lebanon, and that we will be able to adapt to our new situation. I hope that I can build a future for my family.
