Refugees receive humanitarian aid from UNIQLO, August 2010

At the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, Representation of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the Republic of Kazakhstan (UNHCR) and Unique Clothing Warehouse (UNIQLO), Japan have distributed more than 5,000 items of clothing to more than 100 refugees. The recycled clothes had been deposited by customers at more than 800 outlets in Japan.

Photo exhibition on Refugee Day (Astana)

On 16 June 2010 the Photo Exhibition in Astana, conducted at the National Academic Library, gathered more than 100 people. It was opened by the UNHCR Regional Representative/Regional Coordinator for Central Asia and Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
World Refugee Day 2010 in Turkmenistan

On 20 June countries around the world will observe the tenth World Refugee Day (WRD). This year, WRD will coincide with the 60th anniversary of UNHCR and devoted to the topic "They Took Our Home, but they cannot take Our Future". An event focusing on refugee and statelessness issues and gathering Turkmen youth and young refugees was held in Ashgabat on 19 June.
World Refugee Day 2010 (Almaty)

On 22 June 2010 the photo exhibition took place in Almaty. The Deputy Akim (major) of the city opened it with the Almaty Department of Migration Committee. They also marked major steps and accomplishments UNHCR did in the region. The commemoration in Kazakhstan ended with the event for refugee children, when they were given an opportunity to have a free access to all the rides in the Babylon Magic Park.
