Title/Description | How to grow your small business project |
Country | Ecuador » |
Actors/Partners | Fundación Ambiente y Sociedad; Hebrew Inmigrants Aid Society; |
Objectif(s) | The project seeks to empower and enhance the entrepreneurial spirit and skills of the refugee population. |
Results/Impact | The methodology used in this project has generated just in time training, funding and access to formal micro loans for participants. It has also provided seed capital to nearly 300 families. The project was designed to be replicated, as a strategy to expand coverage to other parts of the country. Thus another important impact is the transfer of the methodology to the Government of the Province of Pichincha. 17 technicians in 6 Economic Development Centers have been trained with the methodology in 2012 and are in the planning process of implementing this methodology with their local refugee population. |
Why is this considered a Good practice? | This project is successful because it is a methodology designed and tailored by the organizations working with refugees in Quito. The methodology includes concepts of popular education, solidarity economy, adult education, among others. Because time is limited for the target population, this project condenses the information required without losing efficiency into two weeks, with personal tutorials, where a refugee can access seed capital an /or credit within 45 days. |
