The events marking World Refugee Day (WRD) in Kazakhstan are taking place in two main cities of the country. WRD celebration in Almaty started yesterday, on June 20, with a special entertainment event for children.

A report released today by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees shows 2011 to have been a record year for forced displacement across borders, with more people becoming refugees than at any time since 2000.
