World Refugee Day 2013
First marked in 2001, World Refugee Day is held every year on 20 June. People all around the world take time to recognise the experience and contribution of refugees, asylum seekers and other forcibly displaced people throughout the world. We plan to mark this important occasion with a number of events:
UNHCR & SARI present the Fourth Annual Fair Play Cup
Law Society Gardens, Dublin 7 - Sunday 16th June 2013, 10:30am
This 7-a-side tournament will feature teams drawn from refugee and community groups, Government agencies and members of the media with players from a host of different countries competing in separate men’s and women’s competitions. Other entertainment at the free event includes football skills training, face painting, music, great food from across the world and much more for the whole family. For more information, click here.
Libraries across Ireland
All around the country - 10-23 June
Libraries across Ireland will set up stands highlighting titles relating to flight and exile – watch this space for further details on this exciting initiative and for a list of participating libraries!
