The key dates: July 10 the European Capoeira Championships is relocated at the Museum, a special night on August 5 for the opening ceremony as well as the broadcasting of competitions throughout the duration of the Games. Brazil is coming to Lausanne with a full 6 month programme, based around the Games of the XXXI Olympiad, which are taking place in Rio de Janeiro between 5 and 21 August 2016. Brazilian culture is The Museum’s guest. The carnival combines celebration with sport. Athletic movement suffused with local rhythms. The diversity of the Brazilian people enriches the Olympic spirit. An experience rich in colours for the first Games in history organised in South America.

Would you like to relive great Olympic moments? Feel the pulse of the champions? Discover the creative flair of the host cities? Inside the museum, the three levels of the permanent exhibition each revisit an essential dimension of modern Olympism: The Olympic World, the Olympic Games and the Olympic Spirit. It is a place where the Olympic values and issues can be experienced, explored and shared. The world of the Games will open up to you with 3000 m2 of exhibition space, over 1500 exhibits, 150 screens and our passion, combining to create the ultimate experience.
A café with breathtaking views
The TOM café is on the top floor of the Olympic Museum. Its contemporary, colourful décor has a distinctly sporty theme. The café has one of the most sought-after terraces in the whole of Lausanne, offering spectacular views over Lake Geneva and the Alps. Visitors can relax in the café after looking round the museum or alternatively head straight there from the north entrance.
The TOM Café is the perfect place to welcome your groups and offers a varied culinary journey, with its menus inspired by the cuisine of cities which have hosted the Games.

A unique gift shop
The gift shop, located in the lobby area, is a great place to start – or end – the Olympic Museum experience. It offers an exclusive, constantly changing range of quirky and original products.
