SPORTDiscus™ is the most comprehensive, bibliographic database covering sport, sports medicine and sports science. It includes well over 1.7 million records with journal and monograph coverage going back to 1800; over 22’000 dissertations and theses. The content also consists of international references from journal articles, books, book chapters, conference proceedings and more.

The LA84 Foundation funds youth sports in Southern California, trains coaches, and examines the role of sport in society. The foundation is the legacy of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The LA84 Foundation maintains a traditional paper-based library as well as a growing digital library. Together, these collections cover all aspects of sport, with a particular emphasis on Olympic information.
The traditional library holds 40,000 printed volumes, 6,000 microform volumes, 7,000 videos, 400 periodical titles and 90,000 photo images. The digital collection provides 100,000 PDFs of articles, books, and other documents available at no cost to website visitors.

The central library for sport sciences at the GSU is one of the world’s largest specialised libraries of sport and exercise sciences. The library’s collections contain 1,000 journals, 6,700 e-journals and 420,000 documents (books, videos, DVDs, dissertations, masters theses, etc.).

As a very experienced partner for studies, teaching, research, administration and the general public, the library offers a fast and state-of-the-art supply of documentation and information.

It also has its own website which can be used to browse through the collections or to order a certain book/article online. Although the language of operation in the library is German, 50 per cent of all the inventory is published in English.

The aim of the International Olympic Academy (IOA) is to create an international cultural centre in Olympia; to preserve and spread the Olympic spirit; to study and implement the educational and social principles of Olympism; and to consolidate the scientific basis of the Olympic ideal. The IOA thus organises each year several Sessions and seminars, from which all the proceedings are available online in Open Access on its website. The official journal, as well as other publications on the Olympic Truce and the history of the IOA, are also available online in Open Access.

This guide, created by the University of Illinois, offers access to research tools and resources on Latin American sport. The guide is the fruit of a recent initiative to create a subspecialty in Latin American sport in the Latin American and Caribbean Studies library collection, a unique focus among major academic libraries in the United States. The purpose is to foster an understanding of the region through the powerful lens of sport.
