The power of the mind

Being physically prepared is just half the story in the journey of a great athlete. It’s also important that you prepare mentally in order to manage the everyday struggles you may face, such as the pressure of competition, injury and recovery and, of course, learning to come to terms with the failures as well as the successes in your career.

In this latest video, hosted by Canada’s Young Ambassador Eric Mitchell, a former ski jumper who competed at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, we hear from experts, YOG athletes and Olympic champions on how to train the mind using techniques such as goal-setting, visualisation and mindfulness, to maximise your potential.

Check it out for yourself, and if you have any of your own tips or tricks on how you mentally prepare for competition, let us know at yogteam@olympic.org.
