Comments This statutory guidance has been issued jointly by the UK Home Office and the Department for Children, Schools and Families under section 55 (3) and 55 (5) of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 to accompany this duty. Section 55 of the Act came into force on 2 November 2009. It requires the UK Border Agency to make arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in discharging its immigration, nationality and general customs functions.
