A watchdog group says the first half of 2016 has been the most dangerous six-month period for journalists working in Afghanistan.
The Afghan Journalists' Safety Committee said that 10 journalists have been killed in Afghanistan through June of this year.
It added that a total of 54 violent acts have been committed against journalists, 38 percent more than occurred in the same period in 2015.
The report, released late on July 11, said the violent incidents included killings, assaults, detentions, and acts of intimidation.
It said most of these actions were carried out by "individuals linked to the government" but did not elaborate.
The report said the Taliban was behind 30 percent of the attacks on journalists, or 16 of the 54 known incidents.
The Afghan Journalists' Safety Committee also noted that the number of women taking part in the media has been decreasing as security in Afghanistan worsens.
