Ilya Pyanzin was detained after the accidental explosion of a handmade bomb that killed an associate.
Moscow's City Court has sentenced a Kazakh citizen to 10 years in jail for his involvement in a plot to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ilya Pyanzin pleaded guilty during the probe and came to an undisclosed deal with investigators.
The trial, behind closed doors, started on September 6.
Pyanzin was detained in the Ukrainian city of Odesa last year after he was injured in the accidental explosion of a handmade bomb that killed his associate.
His detention led to the arrest of the alleged mastermind of the plot, ethnic Chechen Adam Osmayev, whose extradition from Ukraine to Russia was halted at the request of the European Court of Human Rights.
