Hong Kong: High Court

The High Court is made up of the Court of Appeal and the Court of First Instance. It has both appellate and original jurisdiction, i.e. it can both hear appeals sent to it and try cases first taken to it. The Court of First Instance has both appellate and original jurisdiction and this extends to both criminal and civil matters. The Court of Appeal hears appeals on criminal and civil matters from the Court of First Instance, the District Court, the Lands Tribunal and various Tribunals and statutory bodies by virtue of the Ordinance. Website: www.judiciary.gov.hk/en/crt_services/pphlt/html/hc.htm
