Global Consultations
An unprecedented conference in Geneva unanimously reaffirmed the commitment of the international community to the 1951 Refugee Convention in December 2001. The talks were part of UNHCR's Global Consultations process involving governments, non-governmental organizations, other groups and experts which continued into 2002 with an Agenda for Protection - a series of activities which will serve as a guide in strengthening refugee protection.
