Meeting Tameru Zegeye from Ethiopia

tameru-zegeye-from-ethiopia-the-super-human-refugeeWe are a group of journalists and news producers and we first met Tameru Zegeye in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. He was living in poor conditions and hardly earned enough money to even eat, yet he would wake up at 5 am every morning to train his natural ability for stunts, gymnastic style tricks, and circus style manoeuvres. We decided to tell his story and filmed a short profile video

Since this time he experienced further wider social issues in Addis and was forced to travel to Furth in Germany for asylum. He is currently going through the process, and we have kept in contact throughout. We helped him purchase high-tech crutches as he is also disabled, but from his personal perspective he wishes to show the world his ‘ability’ – and we have been in awe of his strength of spirit, character and his ambitions since meeting him.

Just recently he has proven his ability by setting a brand new world record for fastest man to run whilst balanced upright on his crutches, a skill we have not seen anyone else worldwide showcase. His story has been showcased on German national TV and he is also about to be featured in an episode of a TV series on Discovery channel entitled ‘Super Human’ – giving him the official title of ‘The record breaking Super Human Refugee’ – he has also been dubbed ‘the miracle man’ and we are proud to have followed his journey over the last year and to share his story with the world which is something he is very happy about.
