Going green at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games

Whether it’s recycling, turning off the lights or choosing to walk instead of drive, we all need to do our bit to help protect the environment. And, at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games, athletes will get the opportunity to give something back by planting in a tree in the newly opened YOG Forest Park.

Officially unveiled last month, the park covers about 6,700 square metres and includes five ecological parks which are designed in the style of Asia, Europe, Africa, America and Oceania. Some 1,000 volunteers planted trees as part of the park opening ceremony, and the space will provide an idyllic green sanctuary for Nanjing locals and visitors before, during and after the Games.

Check out this video on how the athletes at the Singapore Youth Olympic Games learnt to do their bit to protect the environment as part of the Culture and Education Programme.
