Coordination Commission visits PyeongChang 2018

The IOC Coordination Commission for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 began its sixth visit today with a series of venue tours in the coastal cluster.
Chaired by IOC Executive Board member Gunilla Lindberg, the Commission assessed progress at the Gangneung Sports Complex, the Kwandong Hockey Centre, the Gangneung Media Village and the Gangneung Olympic Village.

Commission members will receive progress reports on other aspects of Games preparations in a series of meetings with the PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee, led by President Yang-ho Cho. Representatives from winter sports International Federations are participating in the three-day visit to provide additional sport-specific expertise.

The Commission’s focus areas will include services for athletes, National Olympic Committees, International Federations, the media, spectators and other Games participants, as well as topics related to the Paralympics, legacy planning and sustainability.

The latest Commission visit follows a series of successful skiing and snowboard test events in PyeongChang, and comes less than two years before the Opening Ceremony. The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games will run from 9 to 25 February 2018.
