About Established in 1951, IOM is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year as the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration. Based in Geneva with 110 offices worldwide, IOM works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners to a) ensure orderly and humane migration management, b) promote international cooperation on migration issues, c) assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and d) provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.

In addition to being a country office, IOM Kenya is also the Coordinating Mission for the Horn of Africa countries of Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, and Djibouti. IOM in Dadaab, Kenya works in coordination with its partners to enhance the protection of refugees, driven by the drought and the conflict. It supports the displaced and the host communities through safe and dignified transportation, health assessments and referrals, shelter and livelihood opportunities.

IOM in Dollo Ado, Ethiopia also provides refugees with medical assistance, training and emergency health clinics in close coordination with the Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs (ARRA) and other agencies working on the ground.
