Results/Impact

The educational infrastructure was improved with small adaptations on the infrastructure/support fitting for 22 schools in Awa communities in the provinces of Imbabura, Carchi and Esmeraldas.

Support was given to FCAE in the hiring of teaching staff to support geographically inaccessible schools in Imbabura and Carchi

Why is this considered a Good practice?Work was based on the needs of the communities. Support was provided to the workplan of the Federation of Awa Centres of Ecuador. A direct impact on the beneficiary population was achieved thanks to the support of the communities. Schools that benefited are all located within a day or two’s walk from where there is vehicular access. The project was coordinated and backed by the Department of Intercultural Bilingual Education.
