Objectif(s) | Through mobile campaigns, provide identity documents to the populations displaced, at risk of displacement and vulnerable who are in a precarious situation as a result of the armed conflict and are located in remote areas, with little or no presence of the State. |
Results/Impact | 878,363 identity documents have been issued since the project began in 2000. UDAPV has conducted 216 registry campaigns covering 1,223 locations throughout the country, with significant participation of indigenous and afro. The campaigns have also allowed bringing other services to the vulnerable communities and opening and maintaining humanitarian space. For instance, during the documentation campaigns also vaccination, health and psychosocial care campaigns are carried out. |
Why is this considered a Good practice? | In addition to providing identity documents to the population and with them the possibility of access other rights, the project has enabled the growth and strengthening of the Registry. To this extent UNHCR has reduced the resources invested and the State is providing human and financial resources to UDAPV, which has become a unit within the Registry. Similarly, new partners have joined. Initially, UNHCR was the only partner and by 2010 the UDAPV had five partners that provide political and financial support. |
