Hoping for the best, Kenya
Hoping for the best
i am a refugee yes
but i have God so i worry less
Then i got UNHCR so i am in a less mess
i am a victim of violence
i am the definition of no peace
i am the target of the gun
where the greedy kill for fun
my country is no more
buildings burning like charcoal
hungry for power,
bullets like water from the shower
every second every minute
life span turning so minute
peace among us is the bonus of life
i am a refugee hoping for the best
every corner is filled with blood
wondering who will at least spread love
power hunger can’t be fed with knowledge
fellow humans are full of grudge
love and hate can no longer merge
it’s clear no one can stop the waves
all one can do is to learn how to surf
sometimes i believe my country hasn’t failed
maybe peace succession is just postponed
but maybe am wrong
because fighting is for so long
double decades
war accelerates
each day is gone
but the pain isn’t gone
i am a refugee hoping for the best
every time it is the same question
every thought of me seems a suggestion
but i guess i got my own opinion
when will my people learn the lesson
that always fighting is not an option
look at all the country’s women
suffering alongside their children
forgetting they make our bright future
destroying all the structures
never thinking about our natural features
i am running since my childhood
i am crying since i got born
oh God show these people some mercy
i am a refugee hoping for the best
every place is a no go zone
every city is war torn
bullets sounds are the days order
killing the young and the older
Somalia has been and still fighting
Libya started fighting
C.A.R lost its faith and now is fighting
for power, the Sudanese are fighting
Palestine, on Gaza its pounding
middle east, always uprising
innocents in Lebanon are dying
when will all this be ending
a refugee has no choice, you do
even in the dictionary, you know
peace is before war,
just peace
because i am a refugee hoping for the peace
i just wish for that day
that day i wouldn’t have sorrows
days that were to be better tomorrows
that day i will walk freely
all the places in my country
that day I’ll use an identity card
that day I’ll say no more ration card
that day that i won’t be sad
that days i will be able to vote
when i will be free to quote
that day is the day
every refugee will say
peace has prevailed
but for now till that day
i am a refugee hoping for the best
