Henning Mankell meets the Nyiransabimama family

Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell meets Emmanuel, his wife Rehema and their sons Ali Jibu and Timothy. Timothy is 9 months old and his mother died when he was just 2 weeks old of complications related to child birth.  She arrived in Uganda on her own, 7 months pregnant and gave birth in the health clinic in Rwamwanja.  There were no relatives to take care of the baby, and Rehema, who was part of a women’s community group that provided support to mothers that arrived on their own from DRC, became his foster parent..
