Over the years, the number of UNHCR personnel, operations and offices has increased to meet new and growing needs around the world. In recent years, the refugee agency has been cutting back staff in headquarters and allocating more resources to field operations.
On the financial front, UNHCR has been appealing for more and more from generous donors in the public and private sectors in recent years. The annual budget is US$7 billion in 2015 - the figure rose as the agency based its appeals on the real needs of people of concern.
