Between 3 October and 13 November 2013, a total of 36 suspected cases of yellow fever (YF) were reported with 10 deaths, presenting a case fatality rate of 27.8% Out of the 12 samples collected from suspected YF cases which were re-tested at the Institute Pasteur in Dakar, three were positive for YF. As of today, 10 localities in West and South Kordofan are affected by the disease. Small scale vaccination campaign against YF commenced in the localities of Kadugli, Elreef Alshargi, Lagawa and Keilak targeting 100 000 individuals.

Between 3 October and 6 November 2013, a total of 22 suspected cases of yellow fever were reported, including eight deaths, presenting a case fatality rate of 36.3% WHO through the FMoH has sent supplies to the State Ministry of Health (SMoH) comprising of medical equipment, life-saving medicines, laboratory tools, cleaning tools and disinfectant, mosquito nets and insecticides to the affected areas Communicable disease surveillance system is strengthened in the states of White Nile, Gezira, Kassala, Gedarif and Khartoum
