The UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons, Chaloka Beyani, visited Côte d’Ivoire from 16 to 20 June 2014 to conduct a follow up mission to his last visit in July 2012, when he examined the overall situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the country. Mr. Beyani met with representatives from the Government, UN partners, and civil society, among others.

J'ai rencontré Sylvain, un homme mince de 40ans, pendant qu'il était en train de se débarbouiller au point d'eau
mis en place dans le centre de transit de Danané, dans l'ouest de la Côte d'Ivoire, à environ 25 kilomètres de la frontière avec le Libéria.
Il était réticent à parler de ce qu'il a vu lors de la crise post-électorale 2010-2011 en Côte d'Ivoire, qui a abouti à la destruction de
sa maison dans le département de Zouan-Hounien, dans l'ouest du pays. "J'ai eu très peur, beaucoup de gens avaient des fusils, et il y avait
beaucoup de tension alors je suis parti dans la nuit avec ma femme et nos sept enfants." Son temps dans le camp de réfugiés de Banh, dans l'est
du Libéria, a été marqué par deux souffrances ...
