According to a representative of the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa, an Italian transit visa is required for Nigerians stopping over in Rome on international flights (2 May 1993). The representative also stated that Nigerian passengers are allowed to remain in the transit lounge during their stopover in Rome.

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
