Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili
Nine suspects have been arrested in connection with arms caches found in western Georgia earlier this week.
Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili told journalists that one suspect is a Defense Ministry official and two are former police officers.
Their connection to the caches was not made clear.
The Interior Ministry announced on June 17 that weapons, explosives, drugs, and documents targeting opponents of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's party were found buried in barrels in Georgia's western province of Samegrelo.
The ministry's spokeswoman said then that the caches contained photos and written material regarding people Saakashvili's United National Movement party allegedly planned to arrest if it won last year's parliamentary elections.
Many of Saakashvili's associates have been arrested and charged with wrongdoing since Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili's Georgian Dream coalition won the elections in October 2012.
