An official with Russia's Foreign Ministry has criticized Lithuania for extraditing a Russian citizen to the United States on charges of weapons smuggling.

Konstantin Dolgov, the ministry's top human rights official, said in a tweeted message that the United States "has not provided any convincing proof" in the case against Dmitry Ustinov.

Russia says Lithuania officially notified Moscow on August 27 about Ustinov's extradition.

The prosecutor's office in Vilnius says Ustinov was extradited on August 23.

He was charged in March by the United States with illegally exporting night-vision goggles and other military equipment from the United States.

He also is accused of money laundering.

Ustinov was detained in Vilnius on April 15.

He says he is not guilty.
