Comments Published in the Official Journal of the European Union (C 306/1) of 17 December 2007. The Treaty of Lisbon amends the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty Establishing the European Community. The Treaty of Lisbon has renamed renamed the previous treaties as the Consolidated versions of the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. In addition, several Protocols and Declarations are attached to the Treaty. It was approved by EU leaders on 18-19 October, and signed by the Heads of State or Government of the 27 Member States in Lisbon on 13 December 2007. The Treaty entered into force on 1 December 2009.
