A Website, A Guide to Japanese Visas (http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/02.html), contains a section called "Exemption of Visas" where a list of countries that have visa exemption agreements with Japan is provided. The Website states that the visa exemption for Iran is "temporarily suspended".

Information on the rights to protection or residency in Japan for the children of an Iranian man who has lived in Japan for six years and who has married a Japanese woman could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate in Ottawa.

However, it may be of interest to consult the attached print-out of the A Guide to Japanese Visas (http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/02.html) Website. The document provides information on several categories of visas and residency rights in Japan, including the dependents of foreigners living in Japan.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
