Officials in Somalia say a truck bomb has exploded outside a compound housing government buildings in Mogadishu, killing some 70 people and wounding dozens of others.
Police said a truck exploded at a security checkpoint at the entrance to the Education Ministry.
A spokesman for the Islamist militant group Al-Shabab said the group carried out the attack.
Al-Shabab has links to Al-Qaeda and controls large parts of south and central Somalia.
