The bodies of five fetuses have been found in a garbage can in a village in the Moscow region.
Russian media, citing police sources, said on October 7 that each of the fetuses was wrapped in a plastic bag.
The reports said police have opened a criminal investigation.
Abortions are legal under Russian law through the first trimester.
Investigators are trying to find out which doctors or medical establishments could have been involved.
