A man has set himself on fire in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku.
The man, who was not identified in media reports, immolated himself on January 8 on a street where city authorities are demolishing old buildings to make way for new development projects.
Residents have been protesting for months, seeking more compensation for their demolished properties.
The man's motives were not known, and the area was cordoned off by police.
There were at least five self-immolations in Azerbaijan in the last 13 months.
The death of a veteran of the Nagorno-Karabakh war who set himself on fire in December 2013 to protest the poverty many veterans face prompted a wave of protests and demonstrations across the country.
