Our relationship with the United Nations Foundation is a highly valued one that has brought important health, social and security benefits for large numbers of people of concern to UNHCR in some 20 African countries.

The UN Foundation has contributed more than US$10 million to support UNHCR operations in recent years, much of it to provide more than 1 million mosquito nets to refugees through Nothing but Nets, a global and grassroots campaign to fight potentially fatal malaria. The UN Foundation has also helped to provide protection for teenage refugee girls through Girl Up, which enlists the help of American girls to raise awareness and funds to help adolescent girls in hard-to-reach areas of the world.

With their continuing support, the UN Foundation and its partners have made a positive difference in the lives of refugees in Africa - people affected by trauma and facing huge challenges. The partnership with the UN Foundation has helped UNHCR provide life-saving assistance and given many forcibly displaced people renewed home and a platform on which to rebuild their lives.

The UN Foundation links the UN's work with others around the world, mobilizing the energy and expertise of business and non-governmental organizations to help the United Nations tackle issues including climate change, global health, peace and security, women's empowerment, poverty eradication and energy access.
