Choirmaster. Sister. Knitter.
“We lost our beloved church and its 500 years of history.”
UNHCR Armenia volunteer Vrouyr Bilemjia, a student – himself displaced from Syria to Armenia – visited Lena and her two sisters who live in a rented apartment in Yerevan, Armenia.
Lena knits blouses and hats, and is happy that she has been given a knitting machine to help her earn an income. She showed Vrouyr some of the photos of their beloved church in Aleppo and the choir where she and her sisters sang for 35 years. Vrouyr listened to the story of her life back in Syria, and the hardship the sisters went through.
